Victoria Camping or Glamping – Fort Rodd Hill

Camping at Fort Rodd Hill

Roasting hot dogs on CampfireSo we wanted to have an end of the Summer camping trip. We chose to do something a bit easier and different than anything else we have done and booked an oTENTik. At Fort Rodd Hill in Victoria, Parks Canada has some pre-set up tents families can book. The best was that they fit all 6 of us (plus one friend of the kids). Now that our older kids have grown up, there are only 4 of our 8 kids left at home. But we brought one friend to make up for our 4 missing older kids.

oTENTik CampingWe had to park in the main parking lot and then haul over our sleeping bags and games to the tent area. A separate area is set aside for storing food away from where raccoons and other animals are prowling around for something to eat.

We started out with a hotdog roast. Later in the evening the parks staff took us in their golf cart to the Fisguard Lighthouse. We all piled in as it was cool by 8pm and zipped over. It was fun to have the lighthouse virtually to ourselves until the other campers came over in the second golf cart shuttle.

If you want a quick little getaway, try the oTENTik’s!Fort Rodd Hill CampingParks Canada Camping

Very nice camping trip Normand and Kirsten.

We enjoyed reading all your adventures over the years.

Our trip to Japan this summer was another good one. We spent more time in Nagasaki than we normally do, visiting Dejima and battleship island (Gunkan Jima). Let me know if you would like pictures or if you want more info to post in the site.
