This afternoon the water was calm and the sun was out. There was no wind to move us in any direction without motoring so what else can one do but go for a swim!
We spent more time than expected swimming around the boat. And the best part was that the current was gently pulling our boat 1.5 knots Southward. We tied a rope on the back of the boat and sent Jaeden out to be our guinea pig to test out the strength of the current. With no waves this was a perfect stop. The kids splashed around for over an hour. At first cautious and grabbing onto the strap and buoy we threw off the back. And then more confident jumping off the front and drifting to the ladder in the water off the back. I managed to get our video camera snorkel mask working and took some fun videos of the kids swinging off the deck of the boat and into the water using our “Tarzan Swing/Bosun’s Chair” line.
When all was said and done we had a few shoulder sunburns and a great deal of fun. We rationed everyone to 2 cups full of rainwater to rinse themselves off with before hoisting the sails in 8 knots of wind for a leisurely sail southward.
